Crystal Maris Otter?

Rebel Brewer has a new malt available: Crystal Maris Otter.

Brand New malt from the good folks at Simpson's The first in the all new Simpson's Heritage series. The worlds first Crystal Maris Otter. Now you can make that all Maris English Pale you've been waiting to brew.

Would the M.O. cultivar really bring any unique qualities to a crystal malt or is this just some gimmick from the bowels of the marketing department at Simpson's?

Try using some Crystal Meth Otter.

Protein content variations definitely make for a different specialty malt. Compare English crystal with American crystal made with higher protein 6 row malt.

I'm not sure the different English cultivars would vary enough in Protein to make a significant difference.

It isn't really any more or less expensive than other English crystal malts though and I've always known Simpsons to make a good product. I will probably order a few pounds as I intend to order some hops from Rebel Brewer soon.
